The bank HO has a state of the art datacenter infrastructure along with core banking application runs with MS-SQL database. To comply with Disaster Recovery requirement by the law of government of KENYA, bank management was looking very affordable solution to achieve the Disaster recovery. With the help of AMI Store trends 1300i, the bank it team has managed to implement IP SAN and migrated the MS-SQL database on the storage. The bank has achieved minimum recovery time objectives RTO by every one hour. The primary level backup implemented for database snapshot technology provided by store trends for every one hour and same gets replicated to the Disaster Recovery site over an IP link seamlessly. As a policy the bank has implemented every end of day, TAPE BACKUP as a secondary level backup using SYMANTEC BACKUP EXEC with an MS-SQL Agent.

The bank has decided to setup IP SAN solution in the primary datacenter with the help of AMI Store trends 3200i having a capacity of approx 6TB and Store trends 1300i 1TB in the DR Site. In the primary site HP-UX and core banking server is configured with IP SAN and consolidated the ORACLE as well as MS-SQL database respectively. The scheduled database snapshot backup as a primary backup which gets replicated every one hour to the DR site.
